The event brought together professionals and emerging talent from the IBM Z ecosystem to share experiences and knowledge and strengthen the mainframe community in Argentina. This event is just the first of many aimed at establishing a space for ongoing learning and collaboration among different generations of experts.

G&L Group opened its doors to host the first New to Z Meet Up Argentina, an event organized in partnership with IBM that brought together professionals, specialists, and emerging talent from the mainframe community in a space dedicated to knowledge sharing, collaborative learning, and networking. During the event, a variety of activities took place, including talks, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions, which enriched the experience for all attendees and fostered an environment conducive to the exchange of ideas and innovation in the field of mainframe technologies.
The event brought together participants with diverse backgrounds and experiences: from professionals with extensive experience in the mainframe ecosystem to those taking their first steps in the world of IBM Z and mission-critical enterprise technologies. The event fostered discussions, allowed participants to share challenges, and helped further strengthen a community that drives some of the most important technology platforms for the critical operations of organizations and companies around the world. As part of the event’s program, case studies were presented that demonstrated how companies are implementing IBM Z solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
We would like to give special recognition to Mafer Martínez, who moderated the panel and helped facilitate the event; to Leonardo Zrycki and our CEO, María Laura Palacios, who led the opening session; and to Matías Greco and Marcos Rivara, leaders of the Mainframe division at G&L Group, who, along with members of our team, shared their experience, knowledge, and professional journeys within the IBM Z ecosystem.

These opportunities provide a chance to continue strengthening ties, sharing real-world experiences, and fostering the development of new generations of professionals specializing in mainframe technologies. Through these initiatives, we seek not only to attract new talent but also to provide them with the tools they need to tackle the industry’s challenges, through hands-on workshops and mentoring programs that connect young people with established industry professionals.
The first New to Z Meet Up Argentina reaffirms G&L Group and IBM’s commitment to training, the growth of tech talent, and the strengthening of the mainframe ecosystem in the region, driving initiatives that promote innovation and the exchange of knowledge within the industry. Through this event, G&L Group and IBM are not only contributing to the professional development of attendees but also making a positive impact on the country’s technology community, creating a legacy of collaboration and learning that will endure over time.
Finally, it is crucial that all stakeholders in the ecosystem—including educators, companies, and professionals—work together to foster an environment where innovation and learning are valued. Only then can we ensure that the mainframe sector continues to thrive and that future generations of professionals have a clear path to success. Collaboration between G&L Group, IBM, and the community is the key to building a bright future in the world of information technology, where knowledge and experience are the foundation of all progress.
It is important to note that the future of the mainframe lies not only in the adoption of new technologies, but also in professionals’ ability to adapt their skills to a changing environment. Continuing education and keeping knowledge up to date are essential to ensuring that young talent can compete in an increasingly demanding job market. For this reason, G&L Group and IBM are committed to offering training and certification programs that enable participants to earn valuable and relevant credentials in the mainframe field.
As we move forward, it is essential that we continue to organize events like the New to Z Meet Up, as they are key to attracting and retaining talent in the information technology sector. Each meetup serves as a platform for participants to explore new trends, emerging technologies, and best practices that they can apply in their own work environments. In this way, we contribute to the growth of a robust and dynamic ecosystem that benefits everyone.
